Our student leaders demonstrated leadership and service through the Japan Immersion Programme, P1 Familiarisation, and Teachers’ Day celebrations, making a positive impact on the school community.
Japan Immersion Programme 2025 – Learning Journey to Yokohama
From 21 to 26 June 2025, 14 Primary 5 and 6 prefects, together with 6 staff members, embarked on a meaningful immersion trip to Yokohama, Japan. The group visited our CHIJ sister schools – Yokohama Futaba Elementary and Denenchofu Futaba Elementary – where they attended lessons, exchanged cultural performances, and forged new friendships with their Japanese sisters.
Beyond the classroom, the students explored cultural landmarks such as the Cup Noodle Museum, Landmark Tower, Fujisan Heritage Centre, and Shibuya Crossing. Hands-on activities like origami, washi-making, and sushi-making deepened their appreciation for Japanese creativity, discipline, and teamwork.
Through this journey, our student leaders not only strengthened bonds across cultures but also reflected on values of respect, kindness, and responsibility. Most importantly, they returned with renewed pride in Singapore, while embracing the spirit of “Think Global, Love Local.”

Prefects Welcome K2 Children for P1 Familiarisation
Our school prefects recently hosted the K2 children from Little Shepherds’ Schoolhouse at the Church of St. Francis Xavier for a P1 familiarisation programme. The prefects warmly guided the little ones through fun games and activities, helping them to feel comfortable and excited about their upcoming transition to Primary 1.
The K2 children also had the chance to experience what life as a Primary 1 student is like such as visiting the canteen and learning how to buy food on their own. Through this meaningful experience, our prefects displayed care and leadership, while the K2 children gained confidence and joy in stepping into their next phase of learning.
Teachers’ Day Celebration (Led by Student Leaders)
This year’s Teachers’ Day celebration began with a Mass, where the school community gathered to give thanks for the gift of our teachers. Led by the Head Prefect, the prefects presented each staff member with a handmade terrarium, symbolising growth, care, and the nurturing role teachers play in shaping young lives.
The celebration continued with vibrant performances by our Primary 5 and Primary 6 student leaders, who showcased their appreciation through song and dance. In the classroom segment, students expressed their gratitude in creative ways, guided by the prefects, by putting up heartfelt items to honour their teachers.
It was a meaningful occasion that reflected the students’ deep appreciation for their teachers’ dedication, patience, and love.
