Celebrating 65 Years of Love and Learning: Our School Musical on Mother Mathilde
This year, our school community came together in a moving celebration of both history and hope through our school musical, Mother Mathilde: A Life of Courage and Faith. Staged in honour of our school’s 65th anniversary, the production was more than a performance — it was a heartfelt tribute to our founder’s legacy and a reminder of the values that continue to shape our students today.
A Story That Inspires Generations
The musical brought to life the extraordinary journey of Mother Mathilde, a woman whose vision and compassion laid the foundations of our school. Through powerful acting, stirring music, and evocative stage design, the cast transported the audience back to 19th-century Singapore, a time of hardship and opportunity. Mother Mathilde’s unwavering faith, resilience in the face of challenges, and deep care for the community shone through each scene.
From her decision to leave her homeland to serve in a distant country, to the tender moments of nurturing young children under her care, the performance reminded us of the courage it takes to plant seeds of change.
Students at the Heart of the Celebration
The production was made possible by the collaboration of many: teachers who guided rehearsals, backstage crews who designed sets and costumes, and of course, the students who poured their energy and passion into every role. From the youngest members to the lead actors portraying Mother Mathilde and her companions, the dedication of our students reflected not only their talents but also their gratitude for the story they were entrusted to tell.
Marking 65 Years with Gratitude
The timing of this musical was particularly poignant as our school celebrates its 65th anniversary. Six and a half decades of love, learning, and growth are milestones we can only reach because of the many who came before us: the sisters who built the foundation, the principals and teachers who carried forward the mission, and the parents and students who continually renew our community with their trust and support.
This year, our theme of gratitude reminds us to pause and give thanks. Gratitude for the sacrifices of Mother Mathilde and the sisters. Gratitude for the educators who guide with wisdom and patience. Gratitude for families who partner with us in nurturing every child. And gratitude for the students themselves, who bring joy, energy, and hope to our halls every day.
Looking Forward with Hope
As we mark our 65th year, may we carry these lessons forward. Let us continue to build a community where gratitude is lived out daily, where every child feels valued, and where we honour the legacy of those who came before us by shaping a future filled with promise.
